St. Anthony's Holiday Bazaar & Craft Fair!

This weekend Urban Designs (Sarah and Jen) will be at the St. Anthony's Holiday Bazaar and Craft Fair in Forest Grove! It is a two day affair and bound to have lots of visitors. We did this one last year and had a lot of fun. It was the first time we noticed any sort of Christmas spirit in the air that really felt like Christmas-not the usual of seeing store decorations being pushed at us. It runs on Saturday the 22nd from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm and on Sunday the 23rd from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Driving directions can be found on their site leading you to their location at 1660 Elm Street by clicking on the address. Let's start the season out right with some handmade shopping! :)

QUIRKS!

Ok people!
Becky of Little Daisy Chains tagged us to do a list of six quirky things about ourselves, so here we go!
 Sarah's
1. I sing all the time when I'm in a happy mood whether it's to myself or my dog, I make up songs and tunes and belt it all out all the time! Por ejemplo, to the tune of My Little Sunshine: Kayley you are my cutie, my lil patootie, you make me happy, when I'm poo pieeee, you'll never know dear, how much you're cutie, please don't take my Kayley away..... HA

2. I have to set up my toiletries in the morning before I get into the shower or I can't stand it! Before I hop in the shower I have to set out my hairbrush, deodorant, moisturizer, set up my toothbrush with toothpaste, and I even have to set out my makeup and choice of eyeshadow! If I don't get to, it really annoys me.

3. I only like french fries with the ketchup from the place that the french fries came from. Like McDonald's fries with McDonald's ketchup. Only!

4. I'm easily nauseated by smells. I can get sick to my stomach from car fumes, strong smelling food, herb scents, and perfumes.

5. When meeting new people, if you're gay you automatically score extra points with me. It's just the way it is people!

6. One time at a party in high school a bunch of people we didn't like that didn't go to our school crashed our party at our friend's house. He was too wasted to notice! After they got too annoying a few of us decided to take care of it. I will only name call out Jen because she said she was ok with it! We called the house phone on the office phone (this was before any of us had cell phones!) and pretended to be the police who were doing a raid warning on behalf of a neighbor complaint. We thought we would die laughing when everybody downstairs went super quiet, afraid our friend's parents were calling. As soon as the phone was hung up people downstairs went flying out the doors! Except for our original crew of course. :) Sneaky!

Now here is Jen with her list of quirky quirks!

1. When in a public restroom I never use the first square of the toilet paper ever! I have to tear it off because there is no way I would use it

2. Especially in the morning, I sing my sentences aloud about whatever it is that I'm doing. I'll sing about whatever task is on hand that I have to do!

3. I used to be a vegan in college, but I had to stop because of my love of cheese! I was also a vegetarian, but I love things like steak so I had to stop that too....

4. One fact about me, if I'm putting lotion on my legs I have to do the same number of lotion rubs or swipes on my legs no matter what. They have to be equal. That also goes for putting on my deodorant or squirting soap into my hands. Has to be the same number!

5. In the 5th grade I used to hold hands with my best friend on the playground, Susie Herman. We would walk around and people said we were gay! But duh it was 'cause we were best friends, that's why!

6. I know all the words to all the songs on the oldie's

stations! It's a gift! : > )

Alberta Street Fair

Hey everybody! We did it- we survived the Alberta Street Fair! Just kidding. It was so much fun! We had family and friends stop by our booth and talked to a steady steam of visitors all day long.

Our new miniature domino pendants were surely the hit of the day! We received so many comments and compliments on them we felt truly fantastic. The street fair itself perhaps wasn't as crazy as we thought it would be (being used to Last Thursday mayhem), but it was not at all boring. A crazy cool parade came through about 2:30 p.m. and we captured some shots of the peeps goin' by. Our favorites were the Rose City Vaudeville group on stilts and also a very cute dragon which we couldn't capture on camera boo...     :(

Check out some pics of the vaudeville group on stilts that we were able to capture!

That guy was so crazy skilled! He walked right over to the camera in our faces practically bending over halfway to tease us about the picture taking. Could not BELIEVE his flexibility and balance!

THANKS FOR READING!

Now find us at Dava Bead and Trade!!

You can now find Urban Designs at Dava Bead and Trade, a landmark bead and crafting store located in NE Portland, Oregon. We first met the owner Anita at a PDX Etsy event at the Portland State park blocks this summer where she fell in love with a pair of our barrettes. As soon as we were able to coordinate schedules and all, we went in and super cool neato news- she wanted our designs in her shop!

Dava Bead and Trade now has our barrettes made of polymer and glass cabochons and pendants of which we now have three types: mini domino pendants, cabochon and polymer pendants, and wood glazed pendants. We are so excited! We have been going to Dava Bead and Trade for years as we grew up in NE Portland... never thought our products would be able to join in the fun.... :)

Please visit Dave Bead and Trade at their new, brand new store at:
2121 NE Broadway, Portland, OR, 97232
-or-
visit them online at www.davabeadandtrade.com

We hope you check them out online... we are getting ready to fill an online order for them as well! This is a great place to go to fulfill your crafting and jewelry making desires. Plus it has artisan goods of many local artists and crafters!

See you there soon!

Fun at the Last Thursday!

On the last Thursday of the month... we always go to the Last Thursday celebration on Alberta Street in NE Portland. It is a flipping blast! There are so many artisans selling their wares full of so much creativity and of such large proportions it is amazing. The street fills up with people and it honestly feels kind of like either a huge block party or a New Orleans Mardi Gras (and yes we have been to New Orleans to be able to make a party comparison!) :)

There are vendors selling: food, clothing, jewelry, candles, artwork, Cd's, books, furniture, and more! The list is literally endless. So much to see... no time to see it all! We try to take turns walking around to be able to window shop and people watch... there are a serious amount of different types of people there to take a look at we tell you... We love the diversity!

We decided to bring our camera this last time to capture the moment. Check out our pics above!

Meet up with us at the September Last Thursday! It will be on Thursday, September 25th!
